County wants more cameras around building

// May 1st, 2007 // Politics, Springfield

From SJ-R.

Keyword here is MORE. They already have cameras, but don’t consider it to be adequate. Instead of spending $110K on more security for a county building, why don’t we start with adding some security to our high schools? For example, Lanphier has nothing; no metal detectors, no cameras, and I would think the risk of something happening at a local high school would be more than some county building.

Sheriff Williamson says “If somebody comes into the building, does something and leaves, we have no record of it.” Well…. welcome to 90% of the other buildings in Springfield. At least you have a record of who comes in to the building from the cameras you already have outside. But since someone shot (once) at the building (three or four years ago), there is obviously a need to spend $110,000 on new cameras, right?

I noticed Will has left a comment on the page, so look for something from him too.

    I’m glad you linked to that. The person posting there is an imposter. I didn’t write it. I was wondering when that would happen. This is another reason the SJ-R should require people to log-in with a username in order to post comments.
