Mac Product Press Conference today

// August 7th, 2007 // Brad's Life, Mac, Technology

I just read the updates from today’s Mac Product Press conference, and I’m absolutely giddy.  I’ve been holding out for an iLife and iWork ‘08, and it’s here.

Absolutely unreal stuff.  Some great web 2.0 features in there.

Also, they’re dropping the 17″ iMac.  Darn the luck.  Guess I’ll be ’stuck’ with a 20″ when my mandatory computer upgrade rolls around at Butler in…. 2 years.  :(

I do want to get an iMac to replace my PC desktop at home.  I have all of these GREAT Mac applications for video editing, etc., but my 80 gb hard drive on the Macbook is just too limiting.  I did just order an 80gb external hard drive specifically for my Mac (HFS+ formatted), but I would love to move my other Terabyte of Windows formatted disk space into a Mac environment.

I really keep kicking myself for not buying Apple stock when it was $75 and I told Jen it would skyrocket in the next year. It’s up to $136 today and will probably go over $150 soon enough.  I would have doubled my money.   I know a good company when I see one.

Read more here and get giddy with me:

    okay Brad, in the never-ending saga of student-designed/maintained web pages, we’re beginning to think that we need to either, 1. pay someone to create a site that would last longer than a year and create a way for us to update it; or 2. Bite the bullet and learn a new skill of web design.

    So, I’m doing a survey of techy people I know to ask what advice you’d give on good web design software, or other options for affordable/creative ways for CSF to maintain a web page…..

    any ideas?
    thanks,

    Don’t know what you are wanting to do with the terabyte of info, but you can map a connection through the Mac to your Win OS drive. I can’t remember the steps, but it’s relatively easy. The only downfall is the speed of the network.

    Gretchen — let me ponder that one a bit and get back to you.

    Shoo — it’s not necessarily that I need all of the information at one time. Most of it is raw footage of videos, along with 100,000+ digital photos. The only issue of having both windows and mac in the house………. is that my wife doesn’t think we need a FIFTH computer right now, considering we live in a 750 sq ft. apartment with 4 rooms (if you count the bathroom). :) By saying I want to move it into a Mac environment, I mean that I would ideally get rid of my desktop PC, move in a Mac desktop, and use that and my Macbook, and let my wife deal with her Dell PC/IBM laptop in her cute little Vista world. :)
