Happy 9th Birthday, Google!

// September 27th, 2007 // 3 Comments » // Brad's Life, Technology, YouTube, iPhone

You’re 9 years old already? I remember when you were just a little thing.   About this tall *holds hand near knees*.   We met when you were about 2, and you had grown up so much since then.  You started out about like one of my ‘HTML 4.0 for Dummies’ websites. Basic.  You let the world know straight from birth that you had one goal: search.  The week you were born you boldly stated: “Index contains ~25 million pages (soon to be much bigger) “.  Yes, MUCH bigger.

Ready for Cali!

// September 26th, 2007 // 3 Comments » // Travel

I’m ready for Cali and I haven’t even left DC yet! Just got official word that Jeremy W. will be joining me for the conference. We’re going to stay an extra day and catch the Colts/Chargers game. I just picked up FIRST ROW tickets off Stubhub, on the Colts side.

It is going to rock. Look for us on TV!!!

HA.HA.HA.HA. This is amazing.
Bonds Home Run Ball To Have An Asterisk

This is the option I voted for. Space would have been funny, but I want future generations to see the ball… WITH AN ASTERISK. I am so happy about this.

Bonds called Marc Ecko, the man behind it all, an “idiot”.  I think he’s just mad HE didn’t buy the ball.

I can’t wait to tell my grandkids how I voted. :)

What are the odds?

Sorry for all the posts. At some point this week I’ll put the internet down and do my homework.

Hotel of the Year

// September 24th, 2007 // 2 Comments » // Brad's Life, Travel

I’ve been here 2 hours and I’m a huge fan of Hawthorn Suites. Free Wi-Fi, sectional sofa in my room, bar/island, dishwasher, full fridge/freezer, stovetop, and microwave. Here comes the best part: free breakfast AND supper (supper is Pepper Steak with rice and egg rolls tomorrow night!) and……… free wine and beer on tap. This is baller.

Obligatory iPhone from airport post

// September 24th, 2007 // No Comments » // iPhone

You thought I’d sit in an airport for 2 hours and not wander over here? Flight got delayed 20 minutes, but training doesn’t start until 9 am tomorrow. I’m flying in to Dulles so hopefully its not as bad as JFK. Jen flies out Fri. Night and then we’ll see all the sights with Kyle. Its gonna be a great week out of the office for sure.

It was funny that Joe at FJ Gaylor called me out the same day I got mine. Like I told him, great minds think alike. :) Check them out here.

TGIF.

// September 21st, 2007 // 1 Comment » // Brad's Life, Butler, Travel

My student Blogger Alex sums it up best: TGIF. Jen is sick, so I just want to get home and see how she’s doing.  This week was easily the busiest week I’ve had at Butler, and it was good.  I like being busy.  But there was a lot of repetitiveness in the emails I was working on, way too many drafts, and just a million other projects.

BUT, everything is done.  It was a hard week because our boss was on vacation, so we had a lot of questions but didn’t want to keep bugging her, so we just kept moving along as planned.  I give this week a 9 out of 10.

Monday I am off to Washington DC.  I’ll be there until Sunday the 30th.   Expect many awesome photos when I get back.   It’ll be a nice break from the office.

PS – 150th blog post!

Well, it went as planned.

Final bid sits at $1070. As previously mentioned, tickets were sitting at $810 with 24 hours left. Previous data told me I could expect 7-12 bids (average of 9.33) for a $175-415 (average of $285) increase in the last 24 hours, and the lower the amount of bids the lower the ending price.

The last 24 hours generated 9 bids (4% below average) for a $260 increase (9% below average).

How is it that I love number so much, but I just got a 70% on my stats test Tuesday? Ugh. Give me an MBA440: Flipping Tickets on eBay class and I’ll get an A. Heck, I’d teach the thing.

Apple event: 5am

// September 17th, 2007 // No Comments » // Brad's Life, Mac, Technology

5am? Yes.  Well, that’s like 10am in Europe, where the event is.

What will be released?  The 3G, 16gb iPhone I’ve been waiting for (maybe I’ll have Brooks, my student blogger in London, mail me one…..), or will it just be something lame like ‘The Beatles are on iTunes now!’.  No better place for either of them.  Europe has a far superior 3G/HSDPA network than the US, and since there is currently no iPhone available, they can launch the 16gb version at the old price point of the 8gb ($599/435 EUR) and cash in big time.  If they do a double and release a similar phone here, I don’t think it’s a stretch to say they’ll sell 3-5 million iPhones by the end of the holiday season.

Crossing my fingers and going to bed.
