Thursday Thursday Thursday!!

// May 31st, 2007 // 1 Comment » // Brad's Life, Springfield, Twosouth Thursday

No Twosouth Thursday this week.  I started the day off playing golf with Jeremy and Kyle, and it was an awesome time.  Smoked some cigars, back to back birdies on 4 and 5, life was good.

Then Derber, BBuck, and Howard came over and we packed the Penske truck from 11:30am-5:30pm during rain, sun, rain, tsunami, and clouds. It was a good time as well.  After that, Jen and Shelly joined us for supper at Cozy Dog, and we’ve been finishing odds and ends ever since.  Now it’s bedtime.

Tomorrow we get up early, finish loading the other 4 vehicles of the caravan, and head out.  We’re also giving our queen sized bed away to a Freecycler in the AM.  Whoo hoo for recycling!

Good bye Springfield, we’ll meet again!

Plane Ride Time Lapse

// May 26th, 2007 // No Comments » // Travel

I did a time lapse in iMovie on the plane for fun. Here is my 2 hr plane ride in 1 minute, 33 seconds. Gotta love 6am flights.

Paradise.

So good to be back. The water is much more clear than it was in March. Definitely less storms lately. We went out about 90-100 yards today and could still see the bottom. We took some nets out and caught a living lightning welch and 4 jellyfish. Hardly any waves all day.

Taking a boat out on the Gulf and down to Cabbage Key on Sunday, along with some snorkeling and deep sea fishing. It’s always hard to come back to IL (or IN I am sure!).

Florida is here, wish you were beautiful!

Twosouth Thursday – Wall of Pain

Twosouth Thursday Episode #2: Wall of Pain
Description: We built the Wall of Pain one night and had some fun. As always, someone gets hurt. Listen for Chad’s shoulder to pop back in place near the end. This was near the end of the Razor scooter phase.

UIS to have Men’s/Women’s Golf

// May 23rd, 2007 // 3 Comments » // Brad's Life, Sports, Springfield, UIS

Word in UHall is that men’s and women’s golf will start for the 2007-2008 school year. This will be good for the University for sure. I just wish it had happened sooner.

When I decided to come to UIS in 2002, I asked if there would be golf and was told there would be a team by my junior year. That obviously did not happen, which I never really understood. Of course, that was from Nick Adams, who is no longer around. I think this is a step towards the NCAA Div. II status for sure. NCAA requires 10 sports, and these additions will take UIS to 9. I pushed pretty hard for golf my first year at UIS because it’s such a cheap sport (give the kids a shirt and a bag and you’re set!) to have, but it never happened. Sometimes I regret not playing basketball here either, but I think that I had a much better experience as an RA for Twosouth and being the 6th Man as the Blue Crew instead. It definitely prepared me better career-wise.

Hole #5 Pasfield, 237 yd. Par 4. 3 wood. Green. 2 putt. birdie.

Hole #3 (Old Hole #9), Scripps Park , 2001. 175 yd., Par 3. 9-iron. GIR. 1 putt. birdie.

FORE!

Belated Weekend in Review

// May 23rd, 2007 // No Comments » // Brad's Life

Sorry I haven’t had time to blog anything this week, it’s been pretty hectic with goodbye suppers and packing. We are in Florida this weekend, so we need to get a lot done this week before next week’s move.

Last weekend we went home for a final visit to my hometown, Rushville, IL. We ate a lot of pizza at my parent’s restaurant, did a lot of fishing, and went up to John and Erin’s wedding in Hamilton, IL. It was a great weekend! Howard and Ali came up early Saturday and fished with us, then we all went to the wedding together. Here are some pictures from the festivities.

Final Grades for Spring ‘07

// May 18th, 2007 // No Comments » // Brad's Life, UIS

Grades are out today!  I got an A in both classes this semester, which lets me leave UIS with a 3.94 GPA after 1 year.  I have 15 hours, but I can only transfer 9 to Butler.  It would have been zero if UIS would not have gotten AACSB accredited. And that would have sucked, and put me another year behind. I honestly can say that I put less effort into this semester than 90% of my undergrad classes.  When I applied for the job at Butler I dropped 1 class because I knew I would only be able to transfer in minimal hours and having 18 would be too many. After midterms I went to the 2 classes a total of about 5 times combined.  They weren’t captivating.  They didn’t intrigue me.  So, here I am at the end of another semester with 5 to go.   Let’s do it!

Take THAT Mr. Gasoline CEO!!

I did it. I rode my bike to work today. 2.8 miles. It’s a beautiful day out, but the wind was horrible. As long as it doesn’t shift, I should get home twice as fast. Seriously.

Oh, and I was reminded my bike is in serious need of a tune up. It’s an 18 speed, but I can only shift into speeds 8-11. Ugh.

Tomorrow is National Bike/Walk to Work Day, who’s with me?

Twosouth Thursday – Biker Boyz

// May 17th, 2007 // No Comments » // Twosouth Thursday, UIS

We’re gonna try something new here at Bradjward.com. Last night I started uploading all of our old videos from Twosouth.com. For those of you unfamiliar with Twosouth, it is a wing in the dorm at UIS that I was the RA for during my sophomore through senior years. We generally did some pretty stupid stuff, and caught most of it on tape, then I would edit it and put it on twosouth.com. That was before YouTube. We (I) paid for bandwidth like crazy and constantly got millions of hits from around the world each year. We were even featured on CollegeHumor.com a few times a year.

Since the site will be going away within a month or two, I wanted to pull some of our best videos off and archive them for years to come.

It was going to be Twosouth Tuesday, but I honestly can’t wait to start posting these. So while it might not sound as good, Twosouth Thursday it is. This should last a good 40-50 weeks, maybe I can pull some never released footage (under the townhouses, the Listerine prank, mascot at Steak and Shake, etc.), and stretch it to a full year.

Twosouth Thursday Episode #1: Biker Boyz
Description: It’s only fair to start with the first video we ever made. Produced by Todd Johnson. I bought these mini bikes off eBay, and they accidentally sent me two. They were a mess to put together, but they held up pretty well. We grabbed the mullet wig and some other stuff, and went to the great room to mess around. Chad’s slide tackle on Jeremy at the end was impromptu as we headed back to Twosouth, so we finished it as that.
