Tracking my Gas Costs

// July 1st, 2008 // 2 Comments » // Great Deals, Indianapolis, Travel

As you know, I love numbers. So then I saw a neat site that integrated into Twitter, and I was sold.

The site: www.fuelfrog.com

What I do: Send a message on Twitter to @fuelfrog, stating my MPG (Miles driven, price paid, gallons purchased). It looks something like this:

That’s it. It’s as quick as a text message, and it automatically gets put into my (free) account on fuelfrog.com. So when I log into fuelfrog.com, I am shown this:

Got my Mac Mini!

// February 27th, 2008 // 6 Comments » // Deals, Great Deals, Mac

They laughed. They said it couldn’t be done. It was a waste of time. A rip-off. I was screwed. But I did it. And 5 weeks, $54, and 3 hours of work later….. I have a Mac Mini.

Thanks for the heads up Justin and Brett! Hope you’re enjoying your MacBook Pro and Toshiba Tablet PC.

Full write-up to come. Leave a comment if you want in on the next opportunity, as this one has closed.

Thank you, again, Best Buy.

Best Buy does it again. Their amazing ability to provide totally horrible service benefits me again. I’ve mentioned their stupidity here and here, and yes this 3rd installment of “Thank You, Best Buy” comes to you from the same store.

And seriously, I can’t make this stuff up. It just happens to me. I have no clue.

FusionCash = PAID.

Seriously, what are you waiting on? Click here to get started. Do a few while you watch Lost or sit there each night mind-numbingly bored.

I posted about this 3 weeks ago, and had some skeptics. I was told that I wasted 2 hours of my life. I was told it was ridiculous. And today, I’m cashing my Paypal account out for $45 smackaroos. Give it a try today!

And since this went well, I tried one of those ‘Free Mac’ deals where you have to do a certain amount of offers.  I did my 8 offers, spent $47, and got confirmation today that my Mac Mini will be shipping in 6-8 weeks.  Once it’s here, I’ll post up some pictures, along with a playbook on how you can get in the game.  I don’t want to before then, in case something falls through.  If that happens, I’m just the schmuck who made $45 at FusionCash and lost $47 on facial and weight loss pill samples.  $-2 isn’t too expensive to learn a lesson, though.

Just DON’T forget to set up a email to catch all the spam. I’m over 6,000 spam messages in the gmail account I set up, which is about 1 every 5.4 minutes for the past 3 weeks. It’s unreal.

Funny side story – Brian thought it’d be funny to use his old work phone number and address on everything, and now Nathan, the new guy, gets about 6 calls a day from mortgage and insurance companies. Me? I used a McDonalds in Gulfport, MS.

DIY: Wireless lighting for house

// January 22nd, 2008 // 2 Comments » // DIY, Great Deals, House

The DealMan strikes again.

Walking through Lowes late Sunday night, a clearance table catches my eye. I walk over to browse the goods, as usual. So I see these light switches… but they aren’t just any light switches. They are wireless, remote-controlled light switches. Intermatic HomeSettings is the brand. And remotes. BOOM. My brain starts turning. I can definitely use these. I want these. I NEED THESE. (more…)

Free Music on iTunes

// October 8th, 2007 // 1 Comment » // Brad's Life, Great Deals, Mac, iPhone

I’m a big fan of iTunes and the integration with our nanos and iPhone, but not a big fan of prices.  Here are 2 options to get some free music:

1: Go to a Starbucks between now and November 7th and ask for the Song of the Day.  Since we have a Starbucks on campus, I just walk over there each day (since we usually go anyways) and then I pick the song up.

2: Join this group on Facebook and you will get an instant code for 5 free downloads (you can choose the $1.29 DRM songs as well, not just the $.99 songs).  I’ve already joined/un-joined in my account and Jen’s account for 10 free songs.  Probably going to make some more Facebook accounts tonight. :)
